In our Bladderwrack products, we only use storm-blown bladderwrack, which is collected by hand from a small area of ​​approximately 10 square meters in the Bothnian Sea (Pyhämaa – Vakka-Suomi, Uusikaupunki), where it grows naturally in abundance and where it is shed after storms. The Bothnian Sea has the cleanest waters in Finland.

We only collect a portion of the fresh bladderwrack that is blown away by the storm. The majority remains in the sea and on the shores, supporting the natural cycle and biodiversity. We never collect from the mounds that have built up on the shore, which have their own important role in the ecosystem.

Processing affects the antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties of shea butter and its components. Unprocessed shea butter is particularly effective against fungi because it contains a combination of different antioxidants. The olein part, on the other hand, is effective against microbes thanks to the high amount of antioxidants and bioactive ingredients.
