What does atopic skin mean?

Atopic skin type is when you suffer from atopic dermatitis, also known as atopic eczema. Atopic dermatitis is often itchy and sometimes the skin can also be inflamed. Atopic skin is usually dry, sensitive and sometimes scaly.

Dry skin, on the other hand, is a subjective feeling experienced by the person themselves, where the skin may feel rough, itchy or flaky. The background can often be a tendency to atopic skin, or the wrong skin care products, such as washing products containing Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), or the cold season and lack of skin hydration.

Dry skin care

When treating dry skin, it's a good idea to avoid showers that are too warm, as water that is too warm will dissolve too much sebum from your skin, which is supposed to keep your skin moisturized.

Use a moisturizing soap, such as Saaren Taika salt soap , and avoid washing products containing sulfates, as sulfates wash your skin too vigorously and cause dryness and itching.

Remember to moisturize your skin sufficiently, use a facial toner as an additional moisturizer, choose a protective cream, and finally lock in moisture with facial and body oils!
