Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS)is an often misunderstood ingredient in the cosmetics industry. Although it is a sulfate, it is significantly different from commonly used sulfates such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES).

Natural origin. Unlike many other sulfates, SCS is derived from coconut oil. It's saponified coconut oil, which means it's made from more natural sources.This makes it a permitted ingredient in certified natural cosmetics.

SCS is a gentle surfactant, i.e. surface-active agent. It is designed to be skin-friendly and less irritating than many other sulfates. This makes it an ideal ingredient for sensitive skin.
